Job Description Summary:

Handle materials, clean construction area, prep and use of basic hand tools, remain attentive to achieve trade knowledge and skill. Support activities at all Swinerton job-sites as directed.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:

  • Clean work areas, machines, or equipment, to maintain a clean and safe job site
  • Retrieve tools for other carpenters
  • Understand and use of basic hand and power tools
  • Maintain a clean construction area
  • Select tools, equipment, or materials from storage and transport items to work site
  • Material handling for carpenters
  • Construct and/or build small carpentry projects at the discretion of the responsible journeyman carpenter(s)
  • Learn to read blueprints, architectural drawings and construction layouts
  • Perform tie spacing layout and measure, mark, drill or cut
  • Fasten timbers or lumber with glue, screws, pegs, or nails and install hardware
  • Drill holes in timbers or lumber
  • Cut lumber, plywood or forms with skill-saw
  • Position and hold timbers, lumber, or paneling in place for fastening or cutting
  • Align, straighten, plumb, or square forms for installation
  • Hold plumb bobs, sighting rods, or other equipment to aid in establishing reference points and lines
  • Erect scaffolding, shoring, or braces
  • Assist carpenters with layout
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to learn new skills with attention to detail
  • Lift and/or pull 50lbs.,
  • Climb ladders, work off ladders, man lifts or other equipment
  • Ability to maintain a standing position for extended periods of time, fully squat, bend or kneel while wearing a tool belt
  • Capable of working in a variety of weather conditions
