Job description

Senior Architectural Practice Leader & Partner (OAQ) – Montreal QC

Summary
Join a globally respected, multidisciplinary consulting organization known for tackling complex, large-scale challenges across the built environment. With a strong reputation for technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration, this firm offers an exceptional culture where senior leaders are empowered to shape strategy, influence outcomes, and drive meaningful impact across diverse projects.
This is a rare opportunity for an accomplished architect to step into a partner-level leadership role, taking ownership of the Québec architectural practice while contributing to a broader national platform. You will play a pivotal role in building, leading, and growing a high-performing team while delivering technically sophisticated, high-value work on complex existing-building projects.
The Opportunity
As the senior architectural leader for Québec, you will combine professional practice leadership, business strategy, and technical excellence. Acting as the OAQ majority professional director, you will assume responsibility for the architectural practice while helping define the vision, growth trajectory, and market presence of the firm in Québec.
You will lead a practice focused on complex, large-scale projects involving restoration, rehabilitation, and building envelope systems—particularly in environments where technical depth and problem-solving capability differentiate success. These include major portfolios such as institutional, multi-residential, and commercial assets requiring ongoing renewal, lifecycle planning, and performance optimization.
Working alongside a multidisciplinary design and engineering national team, you will collaborate with technical experts and leaders to deliver integrated solutions that many traditional architecture firms are not equipped to provide.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Practice Development
  • Serve as the OAQ majority professional director, ensuring compliance with all professional, ethical, and regulatory obligations
  • Lead the establishment, growth, and long-term success of the Québec architectural platform
  • Contribute at the partner level to firm-wide governance, strategic planning, and decision-making
  • Represent the firm across the Québec market, building strong relationships with clients, institutions, and industry stakeholders
Design & Technical Oversight
  • Provide leadership across all phases of complex architectural and rehabilitation projects
  • Oversee quality assurance, technical standards, and best practices in architectural delivery
  • Guide innovative, sustainable, and technically rigorous design solutions tailored to existing-building challenges
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and evolving industry standards
Team Building & Mentorship
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing Québec-based architectural team
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-oriented team culture
  • Support cross-disciplinary collaboration with national subject-matter experts
Client & Market Engagement
  • Lead strategic pursuits and senior-level client relationships
  • Expand presence in key sectors such as institutional portfolios, multi-residential housing, and asset management organizations
  • Position the firm as a leader in complex rehabilitation and renewal work
Candidate Profile
  • Licensed Architect in good standing with the Ordre des architectes du Québec (OAQ)
  • Eligible and willing to act as majority director under Québec regulations
  • Significant senior leadership experience (typically 10–15+ years), ideally as a Principal, Partner, or senior practice leader
  • Strong understanding of both architectural practice and business leadership
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and engage with senior clients and stakeholders
  • Experience with large, technically complex projects, particularly involving existing buildings, restoration, or envelope systems
Preferred:
  • Bilingual (French and English)
  • Established professional network and market presence in Québec
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary or national organizations
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building and scaling a practice
Why This Role
This is more than a leadership role—it is an opportunity to build a lasting legacy within a high-caliber organization. You will benefit from:
  • A collaborative, forward-thinking culture that values expertise, innovation, and leadership
  • Exposure to large, complex, and technically challenging projects that go beyond traditional architectural scopes
  • A truly multidisciplinary environment, enabling deeper impact and learning across engineering, forensics, and advisory services
  • Strong career growth and progression opportunities, including meaningful influence at the partner level
  • The autonomy to shape a regional practice, supported by the resources and reputation of a large, established firm
If you are an experienced architectural leader seeking to elevate your impact, shape strategy, and lead complex, high-value work within a respected and growing organization, this opportunity offers the platform to do so.
