Position Summary

Join Macgregor Associates Architects (MAA) as a Project Manager โ€“ Specifications, where you will collaborate with Project Managers and Design Teams to develop and coordinate high-quality project specifications across multiple projects. Serving as a key technical resource, you will guide materials and product decisions, support quality control, and contribute throughout the project lifecycle-from design through construction administration. You will be an integral part of the design process.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Design Teams to develop, coordinate, and maintain project specifications across multiple projects
  • Serve as the firm's primary resource for materials, products, assemblies, vendors, emerging technologies, product reps and contacts.
  • Lead the preparation of draft and final specifications, including updates and change bulletins, throughout the project lifecycle
  • Support quality control efforts by verifying that specifications are accurate, coordinated, and properly implemented in project documents
  • Develop and maintain firmwide standards for our different project types and client-specific standards.
  • Assist in preparing Outline Specifications or Design Criteria Manuals (DCMs) with client-specific requirements
  • Act as a key point of contact for vendors, product representatives, and technical presentations, including evaluating new and emerging technologies
  • Assist the design team during construction administration as a resource for RFIs, reviewing submittals, and evaluating substitution requests.
  • Participate in key project meetings (e.g., pre-installation or complex assembly discussions) to provide technical expertise and support
  • Maintain documentation of specification updates, revisions, and historical product decisions
  • Utilize and support specification and documentation tools such as SpecLink, Bluebeam, and integration with Revit/ACC

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • 10+ years of experience in architecture, with a strong focus on specifications, technical design, or project management
  • Professional licensure (Registered Architect preferred)
  • Deep knowledge of building materials, systems, assemblies, and construction methods
  • Strong understanding of CSI MasterFormat and specification development processes
  • Experience collaborating across multiple project teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proven ability to support quality control and ensure consistency across project documentation
  • Experience with construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, and substitution reviews
  • Proficiency in specification and documentation tools such as SpecLink and Bluebeam; familiarity with Revit/ACC integration is a plus
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to serve as a trusted technical resource for internal teams and external partners
  • Active involvement or interest in industry organizations such as CSI, ACI, or TCA is a plus
