General Summary:

With limited supervision from the Vice President of VDC + Quality and Assistant Manager of Virtual Design and Construction, this individual works with the assigned Project Manager to plan and execute the successful delivery of a project that meets the client's expectations, budget, schedule, and goals. This individual will be assigned what Ghafari considers a major program requiring high levels of BIM services and scopes of work

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide mentorship and guidance for Virtual Design and Construction team members.
  • Work closely with Ghafari Project Manager, project team, the clients, and the expanded team, including the General Contractors and sub-trades, to integrate the various BIM authoring applications.
  • Lead the efforts with the Project Architects and Engineers to track multi-discipline coordination issues and facilitate BIM review meetings.
  • Implement and lead the BIM quality control procedures.
  • Maintain required sections of the Project Execution Plan for the project.
  • Create and maintain the BIM Execution Plan for the projects.
  • Maintain the BIM Standards for the organization.
  • Stay updated on all BIM Standards used in the industry.
  • Coordinates with the Project Architect and Project Engineers to formulate the project work plan based on an approved scope of work for BIM.
  • Defining and the documentation project deliverables for technology related issues.
  • Develop and communicate the project work plan for BIM related issues.
  • Assist the Project Manager in tracking the actual project completeness against the project schedule and budget by utilizing reports from BIM.
  • Assist in managing the Client and the Ghafari production team to assure that service, scope, quality, and schedule expectation are aligned through the implementation of BIM.
  • Assist in the identification of changes to the scope of work and the related repercussions on the project using BIM.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging BIM technologies, identify opportunities to match those technologies with project needs to improve workflow and increase efficiencies.
  • Participate in post project meetings to identify lessons learned for ongoing continuous improvement practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals as they pertain to the use of technologies and workflows on a project.
  • Training/support/troubleshooting for project team as required.
  • Coordinates with Document Control on project deliverables related to BIM scopes.
  • Run clash and coordination reports and project meetings with the Project Manager or Lead Architect/Engineer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications:

Education:

Associate degree in an A/E discipline or a Construction related field required.

Professional Registrations/Affiliations:

  • Professional society affiliation preferred.
  • Revit Certification preferred.

Experience:

  • 5-10+ years in the Architectural/Engineering/Construction Industry
  • 5-10+ years implementing Revit, BIM, and CAD standards in A/E practice.
  • 5-10+ year implementing new technologies in the A/E practice.
  • 5-10+ years providing training / education.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Experience with Navisworks, AutoCAD and Revit, BIM360, ACC, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, High-definition Laser scanning, AR, VR, Automation Tools, and Microsoft Teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Management and leadership experience.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software applications.
  • Excellent Analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent multitasking abilities.
  • Should be knowledgeable of:
    • Cobie, Omniclass, and Uniformat Codes
    • BIM Execution Plans
    • ISO 19650
    • AIA Level of Development and Level of Detail requirements
    • AIA BIM Forms
    • IPD Deliverable Workflows
    • International Standards
  • Ability to lead a diverse team through the challenges of producing construction drawings and associated BIM models is a must.
  • Understanding and knowledge of building construction and constructability necessary to lead coordination meetings externally and internally.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Candidate should be comfortable speaking in front of large groups of people.
  • Individual should be able to take direction and implement solution.
  • Ability to problem solve and find solutions to the issues through research and fact finding of best practices in the industry is a must.
