DBA is headquartered in San Francisco, with an office and fabrication shop in Oakland, California, and an office in Birmingham, Alabama.
We are seeking a talented, strong and engaged architectural Project Manager - licensed architect a plus - to join us in Birmingham. This position offers a great opportunity to design and manage projects from concept through construction, working closely with project team members and principals in a collaborative design process. The active work in the office varies in project scale and typology and with some projects requiring hands-on and empathetic collaboration with clients and opportunities to represent the firm locally and the cities in which we work.
Role and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead project management for medium to large housing projects
  • Serve as a primary client contact throughout the project
  • Lead preparations for client meetings
  • Guide drawing set production and consultant coordination
  • Lead and collaborate with project team members and consultants
  • Engage, sketch, and collaborate with principals in design charrettes

We are looking for someone with:
  • 5+ years of professional architectural experience, with 7-10 years preferred
  • Proven track record of fully managing at least one project-ideally from start to completion-including managing staff, consultant teams, and client relationships
  • Strong design and graphics skills, including hand sketching
  • Minimum 4 years in working drawings in revit on mid to large, mixed use projects, with a strong preference for mid rise multifamily building documentation experience. High proficiency in Revit required.
  • Strong familiarity and experience with multifamily is a must. Seeking candidates with a strong practice of how multifamily buildings come together and successful experience with the building permitting process. Demonstration of both personal values and experience in housing design, public interest design, and sustainable design.
  • Excellent working knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures.
  • Forward thinking, proactive approach to project management
  • Experience in all working drawing phases and CA experience.
  • Highly skilled in Adobe Design Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign; Lumion a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
  • Strong values as a collaborative team member and leader

This is a full-time position and candidates must be located in Birmingham, Alabama. Our firm is extremely collaborative, working across offices as one seamless team. Currently our staff are required to be in the office 4 days a week (subject to change).
