Job description

We are a leading specialty Glass & ACM commercial construction company dedicated to delivering innovative, high-quality building solutions. Our team thrives on precision, collaboration, and creativity, ensuring every project meets the highest standards of engineering and design.About the Role
As a Shop Drawing Designer, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive, technically accurate shop drawing packages for specialty commercial construction systems. This role requires strong architectural design expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict project deadlines.
Location: Apex, NC. Not a remote position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technical Drafting: Develop detailed shop drawing sets, including general notes, door hardware schedules, floor plans, elevations, wall sections, and plan details-for curtain walls, metal panels, IMP, and single-skin systems in compliance with SPS standards.
  • Field Coordination: Revise and update drawings using field dimensions and site-specific data to ensure accuracy and constructability.
  • Plan Interpretation: Read and interpret architectural and structural plans and specifications to produce accurate, high-quality drawings.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Design Manager, Project Managers, Project Executives, fabrication teams, and field staff to resolve design discrepancies and maintain design intent.
  • Communication: Maintain clear, professional communication via phone and email with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Production Environment: Perform effectively in a fast-paced, production-oriented setting while managing high-volume drafting tasks.
  • Deadline Management: Ensure timely completion of submittals, revisions, and deliverables in alignment with project schedules.
Required / Experience
  • Experience: 5+ years in architectural or structural drafting/design within the construction industry, with a focus on shop drawings.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of architectural drafting principles and construction documentation.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD (2018-2026); 3D modeling experience is a plus.
  • Project Tools: Experience with Bluebeam Revu and Procore preferred.
  • General Tech Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
