Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Architectural / Construction Drafter to join our growing engineering department. The ideal candidate is a recent college graduate or early-career professional with experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit, understands architectural and construction drawings, and can translate design intent into clear, practical installation and fabrication drawings.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to grow within a construction company and become a key member of our engineering and preconstruction team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and revise shop drawings, fabrication drawings, installation drawings, and coordinated details.
  • Develop drawings for:
    • Architectural metal panels
    • Curtain wall and storefront
    • Roofing and waterproofing interfaces
    • Building-envelope transitions and details
  • Review architectural, structural, and consultant drawings for conflicts and constructability issues.
  • Incorporate project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and field conditions into drawings.
  • Coordinate drawings with Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineers, Architects, GCs, and manufacturers.
  • Assist with preparation and review of RFIs and submittals.
  • Perform drawing takeoffs and assist estimating when needed.
  • Develop field dimensions and existing-condition drawings from project information and field measurements.
  • Maintain drawing standards, revisions, and document control.
  • Identify potential constructability issues before they reach the field.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of company-standard details and drawing libraries.
  • Provide engineering and drafting support to Project Managers and field operations.
  • Occasionally visit jobsites to verify dimensions and existing conditions.
  • Review manufacturers shop drawings or 3rd party shop drawings and revise as needed.

Qualifications:

    • Recent graduate or 2+ years of experience in architectural drafting, construction drafting, engineering drafting, or a related field.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD.
    • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural construction drawings.
    • Strong understanding of construction terminology and detailing.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
