Job description

Job Title: Architectural Cladding Superintendent

Salary Range: $45.00-$60.00/Hour DOE

Start Date: Immediately

Position Overview: JR & Co. is looking for an Architectural Cladding/Sheet Metal Superintendent to lead commercial cladding and envelope projects in Cedar Rapids, IA. You'll oversee crews installing an extensive variety of wall systems - including Insulated Metal Panels, Concealed & Exposed Fastener Panels, Standing Seam, Metal Composite Material, Porcelain/Ceramic, and more - while managing resources and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and under budget. Essential Functions: 

  • Provide daily leadership and oversight of field crews and subcontractors, ensuring quality, productivity, and safety standards are met
  • Conduct daily jobsite visits and inspections to ensure workmanship and OSHA compliance
  • Lead pre-construction meetings and coordinate with Project Managers and Foremen
  • Plan and schedule materials, equipment, subcontractors, and manpower to prevent delays
  • Enforce safety standards, address hazards immediately, and stop work if necessary
  • Proactively identify and resolve jobsite issues—including change orders and cost impacts—to maintain schedule and budget
  • Track project progress, communicate completion percentages for billing, and submit weekly reports on progress, safety, quality, and impacts
  • Perform final quality inspections and ensure projects are completed on time and under budget


Required Skills and Abilities:  

  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification required; EM385-1-1 and 24-Hour Fall Protection Training preferred/required (as applicable)
  • Certified in rigging, signaling, and operating equipment
  • Hands-on knowledge of architectural cladding systems and accessories (Insulated Metal Panels, Standing Seam, Metal Composite Material, Fiber Cement, Phenolic, Louvers, Sunshades, Canopies, etc.)
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural plans, shop drawings, and specifications
  • Proven ability to lead crews, manage resources, and deliver projects successfully with a situational, team-focused, results-driven leadership style
  • Excellent decision-making skills with a high level of accountability
  • Strong time management and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a professional demeanor that represents the company positively to customers and team members


Education and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 -10 years in construction and sheet metal/architectural cladding industry, with tenured experience across one or more wall systems
  • 2 years of leadership/team management experience


Work Environment/Physical Requirements: 

  • Pass initial drug test and participate in random drug test program
  • Some indoor office environments (approximately 20% office)
  • Primarily outdoor environments in all types of weather (approximately 80% fieldwork)
  • Ability to perform elevated work (work on rooftops, heights)
  • Frequently lift and carry 75lbs or greater, often bending, kneeling, walking 
  • Overtime and weekend work
