Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Install rigid steel framed tensioned fabric structures, worldwide. Duties include:

  • Sets up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.
  • Fastens steel members to cable of hoist with chain, cable, or rope.
  • Signals worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel member.
  • Guides members, using tag line.
  • Pulls, pushes, or pries steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device.
  • Forces members into final position with turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, and hand tools.
  • Aligns connection holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member by driving drift pins or handle of wrench through holes.
  • Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members.
  • Bolts aligned members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded in place.
  • Cuts and welds steel members to make alterations.
  • All aspects of fabric cladding installation.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts for 6 days a week, multiple weeks in a row.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
    1. stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.
    2. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
    3. The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
    4. Work in high, precarious places – heights up to 125’
    5. Work in extreme cold and heat; and/or wet and humid conditions
    6. Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment
      • Extensive travel is required, some internationally.
