Job description

Haddad Plumbing and Heating Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our project operations team based in Newark, New Jersey. The Assistant Project Manager will support the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction projects. This role works closely with Project Managers, field teams, subcontractors, and senior leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will be technically proficient, detail-oriented, and proactive, with strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced construction environment. The Assistant Project Manager reports to the Project Manager Supervisor and plays a key role in supporting project performance, accurate documentation, and day-to-day site coordination.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate daily construction activities with field staff, project manager, construction manager, estimators, consultants, subcontractors, and relevant departments using approved drawings and materials.
  • Support the Project Manager to ensure effective performance.
  • Execute work according to shop drawings, specifications, construction schedules, and method statements.
  • Assist the technical team with issues as directed by senior management.
  • Monitor work progress against construction programs and submit site reports per the project reporting plan.
  • Control and coordinate subcontractor activities, reporting progress and potential issues.
  • Maintain site management information systems and record daily activities and circumstances impacting the project.
  • Provide senior management with regular feedback on project status, focusing on program, quality, variations, client issues, and other relevant factors.
  • Review drawings for accuracy, ensure availability of sufficient information, and use only current revisions of issued-for-construction drawings, withdrawing all superseded versions from the site.
Education, Qualities & Skills required:
  • Mechanical engineering degree from a recognized university.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and knowledgeable in plumbing and HVAC design codes.
  • Required to have OSHA 30 certification.
  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to prioritize, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Initiative-driven and proactive. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Capable of managing sensitive and confidential information.
  • Effective both independently
Compensation:
$65,000 - $75,000 Annually
