Job description

Overview:
Job Title: Data Architect (AI & Semantic Systems)
Company: R2 Technologies
Location: Alpharetta, GA (Hybrid / Remote Options Available)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Contractual
About R2 Technologies: R2 Technologies is a Certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) headquartered in Alpharetta, GA. With over two decades of experience across global markets, we have built a reputation as a trusted partner for IT staffing excellence and cutting-edge digital product innovation. We are driven by innovation and operate on a simple philosophy: "We deliver what we promise, and we promise only what we can deliver." Beyond providing top-tier IT talent, R2 builds cutting-edge proprietary solutions like SmartEnt-an Enterprise AI & IoT Intelligence Platform utilizing advanced NLP and AI technologies. By partnering closely with our clients, we deliver technology-driven outcomes that are realistic, measurable, and impactful.
Job Summary: As enterprise data architectures evolve to serve both human analytics and autonomous AI agents, R2 Technologies requires a forward-thinking Data Architect. You will design the blueprints for unified data-to-AI platforms, ensuring that structured metadata and unstructured content are securely fused into a cohesive semantic layer. You will be responsible for defining the architectures that power our internal IoT/AI products (like SmartEnt) and advising enterprise clients on transitioning from legacy data warehouses to modern, vector-integrated Lakehouse or Data Mesh topologies.
Key Responsibilities: * Design and implement modern data architectures (Data Lakehouse, Data Mesh/Fabric) that natively support streaming data, advanced analytics, and GenAI applications.
  • Architect robust semantic layers and Knowledge Graphs that allow AI agents to understand the business context, relationships, and lineage of enterprise data.
  • Define the enterprise strategy for Vector Database integration, hybrid search, and RAG architectural patterns.
  • Establish AI-era data governance, ensuring privacy, auditability, and role-based access controls for data consumed by Large Language Models.
  • Actively utilize AI-assisted architecture tools and coding assistants to model schemas, generate documentation, and accelerate proof-of-concept designs.
  • Guide engineering teams in the adoption of open table formats (Iceberg, Delta Lake) to future-proof data storage and reduce vendor lock-in.

Qualifications: *Bachelors degree in computer science or related field with 3 years of experience in Data Architecture, System Design, or Senior Data Engineering roles.
  • Deep understanding of distributed data systems, cloud data warehouses, and data modeling (dimensional, data vault, semantic).
  • Strategic knowledge of integrating Vector Databases and LLM orchestration layers into enterprise data stacks.
  • Experience defining data governance, quality, and observability standards.
  • Proven experience or strong familiarity working alongside AI coding/architecture assistants to enhance productivity.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and the ability to bridge the gap between business objectives and technical implementation.
