Head Coach, Archery

As Archery head coach, you will recruit and train a collegiate archery team that will compete for national championships in collegiate competition, and strive for success at national and international contests. You will foster positive community relations to build a favorable reputation for SCAD athletics and the team within SCAD, Atlanta, the greater Georgia area, and national communities. You will recruit qualified and SCAD-aligned student-athletes, establish training standards, and oversee well-structured practice sessions. Among other duties, you will train student-athletes to deepen their understanding of archery and develop methods for instruction and assessment to evaluate learning potential and achievement. Additionally, you will create emergency protocols for injuries and coordinate with students, parents, and healthcare providers to assess player eligibility or ineligibility to participate.

In this role, you will oversee all aspects of a collegiate archery program. You will schedule participation in intercollegiate and national competitions. You will employ strategies that help student-athletes graduate in four years and find rewarding careers. Responsibilities include player retention encouragement, maintenance of regular office hours, and attendance at university events. Additionally, you will resolve issues related to the archery program and perform other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent communication and leadership skills. They are dedicated to student growth and building effective teamwork in a collaborative environment. The candidate maintains a positive attitude toward their responsibilities and the university.

Minimum qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience coaching high level archery

 

Preferred qualifications: 

  • At least two years of intercollegiate coaching experience
  • Experience coaching national and international level archery competitors
  • Level 4 or Level 5 Coach Certification with USA Archery 
  • Understanding of NAIA guidelines, federal regulations, and other policies governing intercollegiate athletics
  • Experience with managing budgets, and fundraising

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:  

  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle report
  • Valid passport 

Travel required:  

  • 20-40% 

Work hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
