Are you a detail-driven professional with a background in legal documentation, collections, or accounting? Join Kinsale Insurance, a leading excess and surplus (E&S) lines carrier headquartered in Richmond, VA. Known for our high-quality, high-touch approach to specialty insurance, Kinsale offers a collaborative, high-performance environment where analytical thinkers and problem solvers thrive. As an Arbitration Specialist on our Accounting team, you’ll play a key role in protecting Kinsale’s financial interests through precise legal coordination and collections management.

About the Role

As an Arbitration Specialist, you’ll sit at the intersection of legal support and financial operations—compiling arbitration filings, coordinating with outside counsel, managing third-party collections, and assessing collection risk. You’ll work onsite at Kinsale’s modern Richmond headquarters alongside experienced accounting and finance professionals who value precision, initiative, and clear communication. This is an excellent opportunity to leverage legal or paralegal expertise in a dynamic specialty insurance setting.

What You’ll Do
  • Compiling and submitting arbitration filings and formal legal briefs on behalf of Kinsale.
  • Responding to arbitrator requests with timely, accurate documentation and professional correspondence.
  • Managing awarded arbitration balances and coordinating with outside counsel as needed.
  • Drafting professional briefs and preparing supporting exhibits that represent Kinsale’s legal position.
  • Obtaining and evaluating Dun & Bradstreet reports to assess collection risk and recommend next steps.
  • Preparing intake spreadsheets and documentation for third-party collection agencies, overseeing case assignments and vendor progress.
  • Coordinating settlement negotiations and accurately posting payments received through collections into financial systems.
  • Maintaining detailed records and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Pre-Law, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of accounts receivable or collections experience strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of paralegal experience at a mid-size to large law firm strongly preferred.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, particularly with legal and financial content.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with web-based filing platforms.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Legal coursework, Paralegal Certification, or insurance industry experience is a plus.
Why You’ll Love Working at Kinsale
  • Competitive Pay & Bonus Opportunities – Rewarding performance and initiative.
  • Comprehensive Benefits – Health, dental, and vision insurance with up to $3,600 (individual) or $6,800 (family) in HSA contributions per year.
  • Work-Life Balance – Generous paid time off including 22 days of PTO and 10 paid company holidays.
  • Career Growth – Clear promotion paths, mentorship, and ongoing professional development.
  • Retirement & Security – Up to 6% matching 401(k) contributions on base salary and bonus, standard life insurance, and disability coverage.
  • Continuous Learning – Annual $3,000 reimbursement for educational training and certifications.
Integrity & Responsibility

Kinsale values strong financial responsibility. A credit check will be conducted as part of the selection process for roles that require sound judgment, trustworthiness, or access to sensitive information.
