Job description

Position: Part-Time Imam Raatib/ Qur’an Instructor (10-12 hrs/week)

Location: ADAMS Gainesville

Overview:

ADAMS Gainesville is seeking a committed and spiritually grounded individual to serve as a part-time Imam Ratib. An Imam Ratib primarily leads the community in prayer and may contribute to teaching Qur'an and tajweed. This role is suited for someone who combines sound knowledge with presence, adab, and a sincere sense of responsibility in guiding others in worship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Maghrib and ʿIshāʾ prayers.
  • Ensure the proper performance of Salāh and attentiveness to congregational needs during prayer.
  • Teach Qur’an and Tajwīd to youth and adults.
  • Lead quarterly youth and adult qiyām programs, fostering spiritual growth and community engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Strong proficiency in Qur’anic recitation (tajwīd).
  • Hafidh of the Quran.Minimum qualification: memorization of at least half of the Qur’an (15+ ajzāʾ), with active progress toward completing memorization.
  • Sound knowledge of the fiqh of Tahara and Salāh.
  • Prior experience formally leading congregational prayer, including Taraweeh.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching Qur’an and Tajwīd to both youth and adults.
