Gaskins + LeCraw and BHC have joined the Pape-Dawson family!

Pape-Dawson is currently seeking a Senior Project Surveyor for their Wichita office. This position provides expert leadership and management of large-scale and complex land surveying projects. This role also serves as a mentor to junior surveyors and ensures the highest quality standards in deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of land surveying projects, with a focus on high-profile and complex assignments.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of field and office staff, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with clients, engineers, and stakeholders to develop and execute comprehensive project plans.
  • Mentor junior survey staff, providing training and technical expertise.
  • Oversee project schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring alignment with client expectations and organizational goals.
  • Perform advanced boundary resolution and oversee boundary construction and related issues.
  • Review and sign off on all survey deliverables, including drawings, legal descriptions, and reports.
  • Identify and address potential project risks, developing mitigation strategies as necessary.
  • Implement best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Licensed Professional Surveyor (LPS) in Kansas and Missouri. A plus if licensed in adjoining states (OK, AR, NE, CO).
  • 10+ years of experience as a Licensed Professional Surveyor.
  • Must have experience with Leica and/or Trimble.
  • Extensive experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, topographic surveys for design, and construction staking.
  • Proven expertise in resolving complex boundary issues and managing large-scale projects.
  • Must have experience with and been through a Planning Commission process for projects.
  • Must be aware of and how to deal with Project Insurance issues.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with a focus on team development.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, resources, and invoicing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on client engagement.
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills.
  • Dependable and capable of leading multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm with overtime as needed.
