Summary

Oracle Database Administrator, Senior

This role plays a critical part in keeping APS's core systems secure, reliable, and performing at scale. As a Senior Oracle Database Administrator, you design, build, and support enterprise database environments that enable essential business operations across the company. Your expertise ensures that APS teams can depend on accurate, available data-supporting the delivery of safe, reliable power to communities across Arizona.

What Your Day Would Be Like:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining Oracle databases in a complex, distributed environment
  • Supporting both project initiatives and daytoday operations on Oracle Exadata platforms
  • Ensuring database performance, security, and reliability through strong physical data modeling and system design
  • Troubleshooting and optimizing database performance using Linuxbased diagnostics and shell scripting
  • Partnering with IT and business teams to support new solutions, system improvements, and operational stability
  • Participating in a 24x7 oncall rotation and scheduled maintenance to keep critical systems running smoothly

Who We're Looking For:

  • Strong experience designing, developing, and supporting Oracle database environments in enterprise settings
  • Handson expertise with Oracle Exadata, including Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and RMAN utilities
  • Solid understanding of physical data models, technical architecture, and system interfaces
  • Proficiency in Linux environments such as Oracle Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux, with experience using shell scripting for OSlevel troubleshooting
  • Ability to develop clear technical documentation and design relational database models
  • A dependable, collaborative professional who values system stability, continuous improvement, and streamlined operations
Minimum Requirements

Oracle Database Administrator, Senior

  • Bachelors' degree in Information Technology or related field
  • PLUS seven (7) years of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Requires in-depth level of technical knowledge within a job area and working knowledge of other technical areas

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of physical data models, technical architecture, system interfaces, etc.
  • Ability to develop and write technical documentation; model and design relational databases.
  • Proficient in install and supporting relational database management systems (RDMS); demonstrated continuous ability to improve operations and streamline work processes.
  • Strong command of Linux environments such as Oracle Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Proficient in Shell Scripting and Linux-based diagnostics to troubleshoot database performance on the OS level.
  • Technical acumen demonstrated with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and RMAN utilities.

2) Provides technical expertise in architectural support for database development, enhancement and migrations for enterprise databases
3) Develops effective architectural solutions to ensure system performance and productivity
4) Addresses architectural issues and queries in a timely fashion
5) Provides guidance to less experienced employees In their assigned job responsibilities as needed
6) Reviews and recommends improvements to existing architectures
7) Leads initiatives to develop solutions and processes to meet needs; identifies unique innovative approaches
8) Provides guidance and assistance to other employees as the lead
