Department Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering prepares students for a career in the ever-growing fields of construction engineering, energy, and engineering management. Undergraduates who choose to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering will combine fundamentals of mechanical engineering with broad specialization on subjects related to construction, energy, and engineering management. For graduate students, our programs will offer opportunities to learn fundamental and applied knowledge compatible with all areas of mechanical, construction, and energy engineering.

Position Overview

The department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking to hire an Senior Student Program Specialist to join our team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist the Chair, Office Manager, Faculty, Program Coordinators Undergraduate students in performing a variety of technical duties using stand procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree and two years of office administration experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service.Demonstrated skill in verbal and written communications Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Ability handle multiple priorities Strong attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Manage the day to day needs of all department students, support to UNDERGRAD GRAD specialists to meet current students, potential students, guests, Course Program needs. (Including registration, overrides, add/drops, application needs, program/course revision needs, etc). 
  • Provide Administrative support to student related faculty advisors program coordinators. Liaison for all curricular needs for Department. 
  • Oversee all student related documentation for ABET/Accreditation needs. ABET, SACS, APR, THECB reporting requirements through data collection and documentation necessary for accreditation validity. (Per course, per program and per departmental specifications). 
  • Staff liaison to college advising,UC/GC committees. Support the Grad/Undergrad Faculty Committees with creation, revisions of courses/programs within department. Manage and track all course addition/deletion and revisions for department.

Lifting and Moving objects up to 20 pounds.
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
