A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN HVAC APPRENTICE / SERVICE TRAINEE

In this HVAC apprenticeship, you work directly with service technicians, service managers, installers, install managers, dispatchers, and other managers to ensure customer satisfaction while meeting goals and key performance objectives (KPOs). You assist technicians and installers with the repair, installation, and maintenance of ductwork, piping, wiring, and equipment on all our projects. This includes mounting and building support for piping and equipment. Every day, you come to work ready to learn and improve your skills by actively listening, observing, and participating.

Maintaining a small tool and equipment case, you keep all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion. You keep our shop, job sites, and vehicles clean and organized. Additionally, you help maintain assigned vehicles by performing daily operational checks. As a trainee, you also continue to attend required vocational school and classroom instruction to learn more about this trade every day. You maintain safe work habits, submit paperwork on a timely basis, and help out wherever you can. You enjoy learning important skills and building a strong career!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN HVAC APPRENTICE / SERVICE TRAINEE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Enrollment in an apprenticeship program recognized by the State of Virginia, which our team can also help you to obtain
  • Basic knowledge of electrical principles, refrigeration principles, service tools, and testing devices
  • Valid driver's license, insurance, and a good driving record
  • Ability to meet the physical demands typical of this position, work on ladders, and operate tools safely

WORK SCHEDULE FOR AN HVAC APPRENTICE / SERVICE TRAINEE

This HVAC apprenticeship is full-time and typically works from 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday to Friday. As we offer 24-hour service, there will be overtime, weekend, and on-call work.

There are four years of HVAC apprenticeship training and study. Completing 2,000 hours of on-the-job training and attending 144 hours of classroom instruction each year is required. You must also maintain a minimum passing grade of 70.
