What is this position?
The Bombardier Service Center, Wichita, has joined with Wichita State Campus of Applied Sciences and Technology to create an entry level Apprenticeship Program. Apprentices in this program will receive instruction at the school one day per week and the remainder of the week they will be at the facility and under the guidance of one of our licensed A&P Mechanics and also an Instructor.
At the conclusion of the program, a successful Apprentice will achieve their FAA Airframe and Power Plant rating and will have continuous employment, including the probationary period. The A&P apprentice program has a term of 2.5 years with an OJL attainment of 5,000 hours, supplemented by the minimum required 360 hours of related instruction.
Apprentice Responsibilities:
  • You must complete all required safety training, SOJT training and obtain and maintain any necessary licensing, certification or qualifications required for the role.
  • You must graduate the apprenticeship program by successfully completing the technical school and the technical skills matrix requirements.
  • You will be required to satisfactorily perform the on-the-job training phase of the apprenticeship.

Apprentice Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A desire to develop the skills that an A&P Technician needs to possess
  • Ability to use basic hand tools
  • You have the ability to effectively communicate in English both written and verbal form on individual and / or aircraft status
  • You have the ability to work in seasonal/inclement weather outside
  • You have basic PC skills
