The Construction Work Planner is located in Pickering and typically reports directly to the CWP Supervisor. The Construction Work Planner is responsible for understanding, walking down and creating planned work orders in the work management system for the purpose of project implementation activities for various contracts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all Black and McDonald's Quality Managed system procedures for work planning
  • Interpret design documents for scope installation
  • Preparation of inspection and test plans
  • Work with Project Managers/teams to plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate projects to ensure work packages are created, processed and delivered
  • Conduct analysis to determine duration of project activities and identify interdependencies to meet project scope of work
  • Provide support to other stakeholders and groups as required
  • Follow all related Managed System Procedures as they relate to Construction/Maintenance work packages
  • Assist with the estimation of new bids for the purposes of supplying hours for Work Planning functions
  • Write Detailed work instructions to accomplish field implementation - this may include becoming familiar with and referencing to client station procedures, standards, and specifications
  • Apply Knowledge of construction methods and station configuration to create the work task structure breakdown to implement the project
  • Accumulate all the necessary technical documents for construction activities
  • Preparing work packages for field execution as they relate to the appropriate trade groups
  • Liaison with Design and supplier groups

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or College Technical Diploma in related discipline, or Apprenticeship training, or other related industrial education

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 8 years related experience with projects
  • Experience in planning related discipline work packages
  • Experience in managing people and processes
  • Experience in electrical, mechanical and civil packages

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a variety of people in a professional manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer Literacy; MS Office, Work Planning or Work Management software tools
  • Flexible team player with the ability to function independently while working in a team environment
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, government regulation and documentation requirements to the role

COMPENSATION

The expected salary range for this role is between $64.00/hr and $66.00/hr. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate's qualifications, including but not limited to education, experience and overall competencies. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald's total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual performance bonus, and career development programs.
