Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Guidewire Developer to develop & customize Guidewire Applications.
Reporting to the Zurich Canada's Core Platforms Delivery Lead, you will help in customizing user interfaces, workflows, and business logic using Guidewire Studio and Gosu (Guidewire's programming language).

This is a hybrid role.

What you'll do

Configuration, java development, and exposure to SDLC, Java EE and Gosu.

Full SDLC and appreciation for Iterative (Agile) development lifecycle as used in Guidewire implementations.

Guidewire implementation and product configuration, configuring and developingย 

Guidewire Configuration Development (Expertise in GOSU, Rules Engine, Data Model, PCF, Wizards, Workflow, Activity etc.), leveraging XML, GUnit, Jenkins, GIT / Subversion / TFS, Code Coverage and Code Scan Plugin / Tools.

Assertive and inspiring leadership, bringing out the best in individuals to develop a strong configuration team that delivers quality configurations.

Large-scale project work within policy admin or claims systems, encompassing all phases of the project lifecycle from scoping and planning, requirements gathering, design, development, and testing.

Support Guidewire, applying strong Object-Oriented Analysis and Programming experience.

Integration development, applying JMS / Queue development.

Analysis and resolution of Guidewire or other application performance issues.

Integration to complex legacy mainframe applications.

Quality check program code, related objects, and documentation.

Respond to Production Support issues.

Work with business as required.

Analyze programs to ensure that they efficiently use computer and storage resources; recommend appropriate changes as necessary.

Conduct preliminary estimates / Rough Order of Magnitude for the level of effort of new/change to application functionality.

Analyze and make recommendations for the need for system backup, security, restart / recovery, balancing & controls; recommend approaches for meeting such needs.

Analyze and document the requirements and approaches to data conversion and data modelling.

Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table

Required:
Bachelors Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Database Analysis or Programming area.
OR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Database Analysis or Programming area.
OR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Database Analysis or Programming area.
AND
Experience with analysis and resolution of Guidewire or other application performance issues.
ย  ย Web service development experience / SOA and have worked with XML and JSON payloads.
ย  ย Experience working on large-scale projects, preferably for policy admin or claims Systems. At least 2 years of experience at least one large Business Integration effort and project team through all phases of the project lifecycle from scoping and planning, requirements gathering, design, development, and testing.
ย  ย Applied java development experience with good exposure to SDLC, Java EE and Gosu.
ย  ย Experience with full SDLC and appreciation for Iterative (Agile) development lifecycle as used in Guidewire implementations.
ย  ย Hands on Guidewire implementation proficiency and experience in Guidewire product configuration - Expertise configuring and developing several areas of ClaimCenter.
ย  ย Experience in Guidewire Configuration Development (Expertise in GOSU, Rules Engine, Data Model, PCF, Wizards, Workflow, Activity etc.) Experience with XML, GUnit, Jenkins, GIT / Subversion / TFS, Code Coverage and Code Scan Plugin / Tools.
ย  ย Expert Level Guidewire / Java Developer with Guidewire ClaimCenter, preferably certified on version 10 or cloud.
ย  ย Working experience in Agile and DevOps tools: JIRA, Git, Bamboo (SVN and Jenkins are assets.) Strong integration development experience. Must have a Strong JMS / Queue development experience.

P&C Insurance Industry and Domain Knowledge, having worked directly with Guidewire ClaimCenter for Commercial Lines

The salary range for this position is 80,000 - 130,000. This range reflects the expected pay for the role across Canada and may vary depending on factors like office location, specific responsibilities, and individual qualifications. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable compensation range, but starting salaries may exceed this range based on a candidate's skills and experience.
