Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Journeyman Millwright is responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of existing rotating equipment and process machinery as well as installation, testing and commissioning of new installations and associated equipment. The Maintenance Journeyman may be responsible for supervising and training other craftsmen and working on various jobs without direct supervision. The Maintenance Journeyman embraces positive change and is committed to advancing their understanding of the Wynnewood refinery systems by a strong work ethic, self-motivation, and training. The Maintenance Journeyman promotes safety and quality and will support efforts to increase the reliability of this facility.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Machine Technology or related field preferred
  • Journeyman Industrial Mechanic, official apprenticeship qualification/certification from a nationally recognized apprenticeship training program or NCCER Millwright Certification preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • 3+ years' rotating equipment, industrial mechanic, millwright experience required
  • 5+ years' experience in a refinery environment preferred
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
  • Operating machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery preferred
  • Reading diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures required
  • Knowledge and skill of piping, water exchangers, seal flush plans and lubrication systems required
  • Knowledge and skill on torquing procedures required
  • Ability to read and fabricate from P&ID's and other fabrication drawings required
  • Ability to use laser alignment equipment required
  • Ability to use calipers and/or dial indicators to measure and record clearances, tolerances, or runout required
  • Understanding of bearings, lubricants, seals, compressors, pumps and cylinders, valve and pipe configurations, shaft packing, and drive systems required
  • Specific knowledge of centrifugal pump machinery repairs required
  • Knowledge of reciprocating compressors preferred
  • Must be able to provide and receive directions from others
  • Ability to use a computer for data entry, work order processing and other minor tasks preferred
  • Fluent in English, oral and written required.
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Perform all duties in compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental, applicable government regulations, and industry best practices
  • Must be able to work with multiple projects and/or issues from a variety of sources
  • Installs, inspects, repairs, and maintains rotating equipment within the refinery
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs
  • Operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs
  • Understands characteristics of metals
  • Able to cut, weld and repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts and assemble new equipment
  • Use hand and power tools to complete assigned work tasks
  • Set up, prepare, and inspect the worksite at start of project and clean up at end of project
  • Ensuring operating safely devices function properly on completion of repairs, modifications, and installations
  • Participate in the PM program on all equipment for continuous improvement of all machines
  • Keeping detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work on machinery
  • Study blueprints or manufacturer's manuals to determine the correct installation or operation of equipment
  • Record repairs and maintenance performed
  • Regularly communicate with management work progress, concerns, and questions
  • Follow guidelines and procedures to ensure that rotating equipment is working in a safe and reliable manner
  • Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.
