The Magor Mold Apprentice Program has been in existence for over 40 years. It is a combination of on-the-job training and schooling. The Apprentice typically spends 8 hours each day in the company and takes evening classes at a local Junior College or State College.
Time for schooling is not paid by Magor Mold. However, there is compensation for the college registration and class fees. Upon successful completion the company presents a Magor Mold journeyman certificate of completion certified by the state of California.
The pay range for this role is $20 an hour.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Learn all aspects of mold making
Machining of precision parts and the corresponding inspection Be able to move around the shop based on delivery schedules and bottlenecks in production.
Setting up and operate a CNC precision machines in accordance with approved, safe work procedures.
Manually machine parts using Vertical milling machines, lathes, and grinders.
Machining parts, ensuring conformance to specifications utilizing CMM and bench top metrology.
Completing work orders and associated documents.
Conducting routine maintenance operations on shop equipment in accordance with predefined schedule to minimize downtime.
Maintains a safe, neat and clean work environment.
Contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment.
High school diploma required.
On job training (mfg related) or technical classes an added bonus.
Ability to read and understand GD&T symbols, blueprint and CAD drawings.
Strong mathematical skills.
Previous work experience using Hand tools, Power tools and Measuring tools.
Inspection experience.
Experience working to defined tolerances in milling, turning and/or grinding a plus.
Lean experience: Flow / Pull, 5S or Continuous Improvement.
Strong Team Player.
Must be able to work well across all departments within the company.
Strong communication skills - verbal and written.
Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Knowledge of proper Health and Safety measures.
Flexible with assigned job duties/tasks.
Drivers license required.
