The successful HVAC Journeyman will strive to enhance their expertise and abilities consistently, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work in a safe manner, adhering to production schedules, and integrating UMC's Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
HVAC Journeyman Installer Pay Range (Hourly):
Hourly Pay: $39.15-$41.20 /hour depending on experience
Actual pay depends on apprenticeship or journeyman level, education, skills test evaluation, experience, and performance.
HVAC Journeyman Installer Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions):
  • Installation of the following on the regular basis: duct work, line sets, thermostats, supply & return finish grills, vents (bath, fan & dryer)
  • Will have a day-to-day expectation to train and teach at 3:1 ratio with apprentices
  • Arrives at job sites on time as scheduled to participate in pre-planning and safety discussions
  • Wears proper Personal Protective Equipment or PPE always required.
  • Ensures all work is performed using proper installation procedures and safety practices.
  • Ensures team participation and communication to learn from and teach others.
  • Treats others with respect and dignity and incorporates UMC's Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of integrity and maintain the confidentiality of business information.
  • Possess good organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

HVAC Journeyman Installer Qualifications:
  • Must have a high school diploma, or General Equivalency Diploma, or GED.
  • 4+ years of proven experience in new construction HVAC (multi family preferred)
  • Experience in heat pumps, RTUs, make up air units, standard AC, gas furnaces, duct work and flues is required
  • Must be certified or willing to obtain certification within 6 months of hire for EPA & RMGA
  • Must be able to pass an on the job HVAC skills test. The results of this test help determine the position level and pay.
  • Have a well-rounded knowledge of new construction multi family HVAC systems
  • Ability to effectively communicate with job Superintendent
  • Proficiency in HVAC start ups required
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; hear; sit; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; climb or balance; stand; walk; lift or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally team lift or move up to 100 pounds; work overhead and in cramped quarters. Good vision required.
  • Must be 18 years or older, have dependable transportation to job sites, pass a physical and drug screening, and be authorized to work in the USA
