Position Description

Comfort Systems USA Mid South is currently seeking a highly motivated, ethical, and safetyoriented Pipefitter Apprentice II to support our commercial HVAC and piping operations.

This role is ideal for an apprentice who has foundational pipefitting experience and is ready to take the next step in their development by working more independently while continuing to learn under the guidance of experienced pipefitters and foremen. Work will be performed in both field and pipe shop environments, supporting commercial construction and retrofit projects.

This position offers a strong pathway for advancement into Pipefitter Apprentice III and Journeymanlevel roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior pipefitters with the installation, modification, and repair of commercial piping systems

  • Install carbon steel, copper, and other piping materials under supervision and in accordance with applicable codes and standards

  • Assist with pipe fitting, layout, measuring, and cutting of materials

  • Perform basic pipe welding and fitup tasks as assigned

  • Support installation of mechanical equipment such as pumps, boilers, chillers, and related systems

  • Read and interpret basic blueprints, drawings, and piping schematics

  • Safely operate hand tools and power tools used in pipefitting activities

  • Maintain proper housekeeping and follow all jobsite safety requirements

  • Collaborate effectively with other trades and project team members

  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or project leadership

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of pipefitting or related HVAC trade experience in a commercial construction environment

  • Basic understanding of commercial HVAC and piping systems (chilled water, hot water, hydronic piping, etc.)

  • Basic piping math skills and ability to accurately measure materials

  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and drawings

  • Familiarity with common hand and power tools

  • Basic welding knowledge or willingness to learn (welding certifications are a plus but not required at this level)

  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds

  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver qualification requirements

  • Punctual and dependable attendance

  • Willingness to follow all company policies and procedures

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening in accordance with company policy

  • Ability to pass a preemployment physical / fitness assessment
