Job Description SummaryThe Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member's suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.Job Description

The Lead Training Specialist is responsible for leading the development and delivery of a world-class training experience in support of integrated technical systems and networking devices for internal and external customers. This role owns training strategy and execution for assigned products and programs, including systems-based instruction, curriculum development, digital learning content, customer engagement, cross-functional coordination, engineering integration, and new product introduction support.
The position requires strong systems engineering knowledge, technical training expertise, and leadership capability to translate complex product and system behavior into effective learning solutions that improve customer readiness, operational performance, and product adoption. The role serves as a key liaison across engineering, program, customer, and training organizations to ensure training solutions align with technical requirements, business priorities, and customer needs.

Individuals selected for this internship will have the responsibility and authority to carry out all assigned tasks

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategy, development, and execution of technical training programs for integrated systems and networking devices supporting internal and external customers.
  • Apply knowledge of systems engineering principles, including requirements, interfaces, integration, verification, and operational concepts, to shape training content and improve learner understanding.
  • Translate complex systems engineering and networking concepts into clear, practical instruction for operators, technicians, maintainers, and customers with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Own and drive the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of training content that reflects system architecture, subsystem interactions, interface dependencies, configuration changes, and engineering updates.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination with engineering, program, services, customer, and training teams to incorporate product updates, configuration changes, design revisions, and new product introduction activities into training programs.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for assigned integrated systems, networking devices, and related training programs.
  • Deliver technical training on networking devices and integrated systems, including installation, configuration, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Develop, update, and manage lesson plans, practical exercises, lab content, digital learning tools, job aids, and customer-facing instructional materials.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to identify training needs, understand operational challenges, and develop training solutions that support product, program, and readiness requirements.
  • Represent the training function in customer-facing discussions, training planning, readiness reviews, and product introduction activities, supporting successful execution and customer confidence.
  • Act as the voice of the customer by incorporating field feedback, operational use cases, and customer needs into curriculum updates and training delivery improvements.
  • Support training delivery in classroom, virtual, and hands-on environments, including training conducted at GE sites and customer locations, as required.
  • Ensure training content remains aligned with current product configurations, engineering intent, and customer use cases.
  • Maintain high standards for training quality, learner engagement, and execution across assigned programs.
  • Provide informal leadership and mentorship to other trainers and team members by sharing best practices, supporting standardization, and helping elevate training effectiveness across the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to training quality, customer satisfaction, operational readiness, and learning effectiveness.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Military personnel on their last 180 days of Military service
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of5 years of experiencein an engineering role engaged in systems engineering, technical training, instructional delivery, maintenance, product support, customer support, or related technical roles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems engineering concepts, including requirements, interfaces, integration, verification, and system-level operation.
  • Experience training users on integrated technical systems and/or networking devices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to deliver complex technical information in a clear and effective manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence stakeholders, and operate effectively in customer-facing environments.
  • Ability to travel as required to support customer and training delivery needs.
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship status.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong understanding of network architecture, secure communications, or integrated technical systems.
  • Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and adult learning methodologies in a technical environment.
  • Experience delivering virtual, instructor-led, and hands-on technical training.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
