JOB SUMMARY
The Industrial Maintenance Supervisor - Electrical is responsible for leading maintenance operations within a heavy industrial steel manufacturing facility, with a primary emphasis on electrical systems, power distribution, automation, reliability, and equipment uptime. This position supervises a team of electrical and multi-craft maintenance technicians while ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of critical production equipment.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in heavy industrial environments and demonstrated leadership in maintenance supervision. This role serves as a key member of plant leadership and partners closely with Production, Engineering, Reliability, and Safety to drive operational excellence, reduce downtime, and improve equipment performance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide leadership for all maintenance safety programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot work, confined space, fall protection, and other regulatory and company safety requirements while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, safety audits, and employee training to mitigate risk and ensure safe work practices across all maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for all plant electrical systems, provide troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, equipment installations, and modernization projects of
    • Motors and motor controls
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
    • Combustion
    • PLCs and Automation systems
    • Instrumentation and sensors
    • Power distribution systems
    • Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
    • Switchgear and transforms
    • Industrial networking systems
    • HMI & SCADA
  • Support in the coordination of planned electrical outages.
  • Support maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and repair of
    • Rolling mills
    • Continuous casting equipment
    • Conveyors
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Pneumatic systems
    • Pumps and compressors
    • Cranes and hoists
    • Gearboxes and rotating equipment
  • Coordinate the resources for emergency breakdowns, preventative and predictive maintenance repairs.
  • Lead the execution of reliability-centered maintenance strategies to maximize equipment availability, reduce downtime, and extend asset life. Analyze equipment performance and failure trends, oversee predictive and preventive maintenance programs, lead root cause failure analyses (RCFA), and implement corrective actions that improve reliability, operational performance, and overall plant effectiveness.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of maintenance professionals, including electricians, technicians, and multi-craft personnel, by fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Oversee workforce development initiatives, including training, apprenticeship programs, performance management, succession planning, and leadership development to ensure a highly skilled and sustainable maintenance organization.
  • Optimize labor, resources, and contractor performance to maximize equipment reliability and plant uptime, while ensuring effective utilization of CMMS systems, timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and successful execution of planned outages and shutdowns.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 3 years experience in industrial maintenance in heavy manufacturing, mining operations, foundries, refinery, power generation facilities, steel manufacturing preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience in maintenance leadership or supervisory experience required
  • Journeyman electrician credentials, license, or equivalent documentation preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering preferred or 7 years of experience in electrical maintenance in heavy industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing maintenance activities in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting Rolling mills, Electric Arc Furnaces, Continuous Casting Operations, Finishing Mills preferred, not required.
  • Experience supervising union workforce preferred.
  • Experience with capital projects and equipment installations preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Working knowledge in the following electrical systems: Industrial power distribution, medium voltage and low voltage systems, switchgear and transformers, three phase electrical systems, MCCs and motor controls, industrial wiring and electrical troubleshooting, VFDs and soft starters, Arc flash safety and electrical compliance.
  • Working knowledge in: PLC troubleshooting and diagnostics, Allen Bradley and Siemens systems, HMI systems, SCADA systems, industrial communication networks, instrumentation and process control systems.
  • Working knowledge in mechanical systems: hydraulics and pneumatics, bearings and power transmission equipment, pumps and compressors, conveyors, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.

Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000
