Job description

Overview
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Responsibilities
The Precision Apprenticeship Technician is a state registered, four-year training program consisting of both formal education and on the job training. Successful candidates will enter a Joint Partnership program between the International Association of Machinists Union (IAM) and the Spirit AeroSystems Company. This program will include both on the job training at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., as well as full participation in a Technical College. Upon successful completion of this Apprenticeship program, the candidate will be qualified for the Precision Maintenance Technician position. To complete the program an apprentice must have 8000 hours in the program as specified in the state registered apprenticeship boiler plate.
The Company will provide appropriate assistance in job training to enable employees to safely perform all necessary job functions.
  • Attend the formal education training center and follow all applicable guidelines.
  • When school is not in session, the apprentice will report to Spirit AeroSystems and work in the designated area. For the first 4000 hours, the apprentice will work with a M06 Precision Maintenance Technician.
  • After formal education is complete and the apprentice has exceeded 4000 hours, he/she will complete the rest of their training working under the guidance of a M06 Precision Maintenance Technician.

Associated Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform root cause analysis in support of reliability processes and collaborate with vendors, engineering, team leader, customer, other crafts and management to solve equipment problems and develop corrective action.
  • Enter and retrieve data from the CMMS system and allocate parts required to accomplish the tasks.
  • During initial checkout of new and rebuilt assets and systems, troubleshoot and correct, design, and engineering related issues for the timely completion of the project.
  • Engaged in all mechanical phases of rebuild, repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Use precision alignment and measuring equipment such as but not limited to, electronic levels, laser trackers, precision levels, micrometers, etc.

Summary Pay Range: $20.50/hour, with potential to earn up to $45.04/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
