Job description

We anticipate the need for one or more Advanced Step Apprentice (3rd Step or above)/Journeyman Lineman to join our Xcel Energy Team located at the Minot Service Center in Minot, North Dakota. Minot Service Center 300 - 16th St SW Minot, ND 58701. The base rate of pay for Journeyman Lineman is $62.27per hour according to the "Exhibit A" wage scale. An Advanced Step Apprentice will be coming in at 70% of the Journeyman rate of pay at 3rd Step, 4th Step at 75%, 5th Step at 80%, 85% at 6th Step, 90% at 7th Step, or 95% at a 8th Step.

This position will be posted for 10 Working Days from August 10, 2026, to August 21, 2026.

Summary

Perform all duties of the Lineman Classification. Including work on overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission systems. Individual filling this position should have a high-level commitment to safety, provide quality customer service, be self-motivated and possess a positive attitude.

Required

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Must possess a degree/diploma from an accepted Line School or a state issued Journeyman certificate for an Advanced step position.

3. Must possess a state issued Journeyman certificate and pass a company skills assessment for a Journeyman position.

4. Must meet driver qualification requirements, including the possession of a valid Commercial Class A Driver's License.

5. Must be physically capable of performing all aspects of electric overhead and underground distribution, construction, operations, and maintenance work.

6. Must have good communication and teamwork skills.

7. Must presently be qualified to be a 3rd Step Apprentice Lineman or higher.

8. Must be self-motivated and possess a positive attitude.

9. Demonstrated commitment to work safely and productively.

Special Requirements:

1. Requires participation in after-hours emergency call-outs.

2. Must live within 20-miles of the service center.

3. This position is subject to D.O.T. random drug and alcohol testing program.
