HVAC Sheet Metal Foreman
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Sheet Metal Foreman to lead and supervise sheet metal installation crews on commercial HVAC projects. This role is responsible for coordinating manpower, materials, safety, and quality while ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget. The foreman serves as the primary field leader for sheet metal operations and works closely with project management and other trades.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Supervision
  • Supervise, train, and direct sheet metal installers and apprentices
  • Assign daily tasks and ensure crew productivity and efficiency
  • Lead by example with workmanship, safety, and professionalism
  • Conduct toolbox talks and enforce company safety policies

Installation & Quality Control
  • Oversee installation of HVAC ductwork, fittings, and accessories
  • Ensure work meets project specifications, SMACNA standards, and company quality expectations
  • Review drawings, layouts, and field conditions prior to installation
  • Identify and resolve installation conflicts or constructability issues

Project Coordination
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades
  • Plan manpower needs and work sequencing to meet schedules
  • Verify materials, tools, and equipment are on-site and ready
  • Track job progress and communicate delays or issues proactively

Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce OSHA and site-specific safety requirements
  • Ensure proper use of PPE, lifts, ladders, and fall protection
  • Report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions

Administrative & Reporting
  • Maintain daily reports, timecards, and production tracking
  • Assist with job documentation, punch lists, and inspections
  • Support job closeout activities as needed

Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years of commercial HVAC sheet metal experience
  • 2+ years in a lead or foreman role preferred
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications
  • Proven experience leading crews and coordinating field operations
  • Thorough knowledge of SMACNA standards and HVAC installation practices
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and on lifts
  • Ability to work in varying weather and job site conditions

Preferred (Not Required)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Completion of a sheet metal apprenticeship program
  • Experience with BIM coordination or field layout
