America’s National Parks, a not-for-profit partner of the National Park Service, is seeking a Glassblower Apprentice with a strong work ethic to support our retail store at Jamestown Glasshouse in Colonial National Historical Park in Williamsburg, VA.

This is an hourly full-time, year-round position and the right candidate will need to be able to work weekends and holidays.

The Glassblower Apprentice will provide an exceptional visitor experience by blowing and finishing products like those produced in the early 1600’s and answering questions regarding glass making and interpreting the demonstrations to visitors during the creation process.


The right candidate will:


1. Produce items of glassware in both adequate quantity and to a certain quality standard.

2. Work both independently and with team members blowing and finishing glassware.

3. Interact actively with visitors to educate the public about 17th century glassblowing.

4. Inform manager of supply needs or potential hazards.

5. Assist in the building and repairing of furnaces and other equipment.

6. Open and closes the Glasshouse.

7. Follow established procedures to ensure safety of visitors, co-workers, and self to include all safety and security policies and regulations.

8. Participate in a 4-year interpretive apprenticeship program which may lead to being promoted to Journeyman.
