Job description

Position Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for leading and coordinating all field operations related to the installation of exterior metal panel systems, architectural cladding, and other building envelope components. This role oversees project execution from mobilization through closeout, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents, quality standards, and schedule commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all field operations from project startup through project closeout.
  • Develop and implement project work plans, installation sequencing strategies, access plans, and site logistics to maximize productivity and maintain schedule commitments.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture focused on eliminating accidents and injuries while ensuring compliance with company safety standards, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Coordinate and oversee field crews, subcontractors, equipment operators, vendors, and material suppliers to achieve project goals.
  • Collaborate with general contractors, owners, architects, consultants, engineers, and other trade partners throughout the construction process.
  • Review and interpret shop drawings, architectural drawings, specifications, installation details, RFIs, and project documents to plan work and proactively identify and resolve challenges.
  • Manage all aspects of façade and exterior enclosure installation
  • Monitor quality control efforts to ensure fabrication and installation meet project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, site storage, equipment utilization, and workforce productivity.
  • Participate in project scheduling efforts, including short-interval planning, look-ahead schedules, milestone tracking, and recovery planning when necessary.
  • Conduct and coordinate inspections, punch list activities, commissioning support, and project closeout requirements.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, installation tracking logs, production reports, and project documentation.
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment that reflects the company's commitment to excellence, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial construction, architectural metal panel installation, building envelope construction, façade systems, or related exterior cladding trades.
  • Proven ability to manage field operations on complex commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, or mixed-use construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of exterior building envelope systems
  • Ability to read, interpret, and visualize architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, engineering details, and installation documents.
  • Working knowledge of façade system tolerances, layout procedures, quality control requirements, and installation sequencing.
  • Experience coordinating with general contractors, steel erectors, glazing contractors, waterproofing contractors, and other related trades.
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with construction technology platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection processes is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Construction Management degree, trade apprenticeship, or equivalent field experience preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing projects involving high-profile architectural façades and complex building envelope systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturer installation requirements for major metal panel and cladding systems.
  • Experience coordinating fabrication schedules with field installation activities.
  • Understanding of waterproofing, air barrier integration, and weather-tight enclosure requirements.
  • Ability to identify and resolve field conditions impacting panel layout, system performance, and installation quality.
