Summary of the position:
Entry-level position with no prior experience required, designed for someone who is eager to learn and build a long-term career in the compressed air industry.
In this role, the apprentice will gain hands-on experience by working alongside experienced service technicians and field service managers. They will be introduced to the fundamentals of preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting, while also learning how to adjust system controls and perform equipment startups. The apprentice will also develop an understanding of service requirements and customer expectations.
This position will include assisting on two-person jobs, helping clean equipment, and serving as an extra set of hands in the field. It's a great opportunity to grow in a team-focused environment and build a strong foundation in technical service work. The candidate will need to be a mechanically inclined, motivated, and dependable individual.
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Gaining hands on experience in field with Technicians and Field Service Manager
  • Developing skills for PM/basic trouble shooting
  • Understanding service requirements
  • Learning how to adjust controls and do start up
  • Provide additional support on two person jobs
  • Equipment cleaning
  • Travel to field jobsites with Technicians for basic troubleshooting, and service of Sullair products
  • Follow standard work for pre and post service preparation (submit expense reports, prepare service reports, making travel arrangements, complete timecards)
  • Follow all Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Contribute to positive Company branding by projecting a knowledgeable, professional, and customer-oriented image to customers.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company standards, while always striving to understand the needs and expectations of the customer.
  • Dedicated to completion of responsibilities.
  • Must be fluent in English and have a valid driver's license. Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI in the previous 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and work in industrial environments including extremes in temperature with continuous walking, reaching, bending, and kneeling.
  • Employees will use company provided equipment and will be required to travel to attend company provided training.
  • This position requires working in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage) with NFPA or equivalent standards.
  • This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move weight limits in line with the safety policy.
  • Role includes occasional overnight travel as dictated by business requirements.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Related industry experience may be considered in lieu of education requirements)
  • Associate degree a plus
  • Technical Trade School a plus

Professional experience:
  • Compressor preventative maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience with rotary screw Oil Free Compressors a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to engage and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong grasp of Microsoft office required
  • Ability to read and understand schematics
  • Ability to work independently or on a team
