The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, team leadership, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of tool and die makers and technicians.
  • Oversee maintenance, repair, and preventive care of stamping dies, molds, and fixtures for powertrain components
  • Ensure all dies and tooling meet tight tolerances required for automotive powertrain applications.
  • Schedule and prioritize toolroom work based on production needs, minimizing downtime.
  • Troubleshoot die and tooling issues in support of production, working closely with engineering and production teams.
  • Train and mentor team members to ensure technical competence and adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory of spare die components and tooling supplies.
  • Implement and support continuous improvement projects in die performance, changeover reduction, and tool life optimization.
  • Enforce plant safety and environmental policies and ensure team compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including die maintenance logs, tool changeover records, and performance metrics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5–7 years of experience in tool and die
  • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, particularly in powertrain components (e.g., machining, stamping, die casting)
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, CAD drawings, and using precision measuring tools
  • Familiarity with CNC machines, die setting, and maintenance practices
  • Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Tool & Die or related field preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in supervisory role in tool and die or production/manufacturing environment
  • Certification in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Experience with progressive and transfer dies
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and TPM

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment with regular exposure to machining equipment, die presses, and industrial noise.
  • Requires standing, walking, lifting, and handling heavy tools and components
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, or off-shifts as needed.
