Job description

Zurich North America is currently hiring a Reinsurance Claims Analyst to join the Reinsurance Finance & Recoveries Team. 

 

Support Reinsurance Finance, Group Reinsurance and internal stakeholders by providing technical advice on reinsurance claims. Responsible for activities associated with identification and analysis of reinsurance claims, reporting to and communicating with reinsurers about reinsurance claims and related efforts to support the collection of reinsurance recoveries and maximization of organizational cash flow. This person will work out of our Schaumburg, IL North America Headquarters.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze claim data to determine reinsurance applicability and to ensure timely notice to reinsurers.
  • Act as the claim expert and reinsurance leader on the underlying claim including any complex coverage issues, as well interpretation of the reinsurance contract, to ensure correct cessions and to support accurate billing.
  • Provide specialist advice to address specific technical queries from internal clients and deliver appropriate solutions, in line with the organization's policies and processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Work across the organization to ensure timely and accurate reinsurance reporting on complex claims and responses to reinsurer's inquiries.

 

Stakeholder and Operational Support:

  • Act as a key point of contact for brokers, reinsurers, and internal stakeholders regarding assigned complex reinsurance claims
  • Provide audit support for reinsurance partners.
  • Build and maintain a regular and open channel of communication with the claims organization to share claim insights and facilitate understanding of specific claims with reinsurance impact.
  • Respond to the business needs of internal stakeholders -  business units, Reinsurance Finance, and Group Reinsurance โ€“ to provide support for treaty renewal, reinsurance contract drafting and other internal business needs.
  • Work with Reinsurance Finance, Group Reinsurance and claims to ensure appropriate handling of sensitive and confidential claim and underwriting information.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the insurance claims area with exposure to the reinsurance business
    OR
  • High School Diploma and 8 or more years of experience in the insurance claims area with exposure to the reinsurance business
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Apprentice, including an Associate Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the insurance claims area with exposure to the reinsurance business
    AND
  • Advanced knowledge of claims, reinsurance, and legal/coverage issues on direct and reinsurance claims for multiple lines of business
  • Experience with Microsoft Office product

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate a complex/global organizational environment.
  • Proficient in complex coverage issues on commercial line claims such as trigger of coverage, number of occurrences, pollution exclusions, allocation, duty to defend, and business interruption.
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of reinsurance treaties, facultative certificates, related contracts, and industry custom and practice.

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. If your expectations are above the listed range, we still encourage you to applyโ€”your unique background matters to us. The proposed Salary range for this position is $110,200.00 - $180,500.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
