Job Title: Journeyman Welder & Fabricator
Location: Avery Operations Center
Pay: $66.83
Hours: 7am-3:30pm
Work under the direction of Metal Shop Foreman and/or Field Crew Foreman to fabricate, construct, modify and repair as are required for company operations in the field and at the Corporate Shops.
DUTIES:
(Essential Job Responsibilities)
• Perform MIG & TIG welding with materials such as mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum bronze, silicon bronze, copper, aluminum, copper nickel & magnesium.
• Perform stick welding & torch welding of mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum & cast iron. Brazing, silver brazing, soft soldering, torch and plasma cut as needed • Fabricate, lay out, repair, finish fit and assemble components from flat sheet stock. Set up and operate shear, hydraulic presses and brakes, hand brakes, punch press and other equipment in order to cut, form and attach metal together.
• Fabricate and design structures, panels and hinged boxes from steel/sheet metal and other components using standards tools and techniques on the job and with short notice.
• Estimate types and quantities of materials required for jobs based on drawings and/or discussions with clients. Work to close tolerances, from prints, schematics, detailed instructions and diagrams to perform task.
• Work at elevated heights and confined spaces.
• Work safely and efficiently with all PGE departments.
• Work days and hours outside normal shift schedule when needed.
• Work on daily temporary assignment at other locations as assigned.
• Perform duties as assigned within your qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
(Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required)
• Possess and maintain a valid CDL Class A driver's license within 6 months of employment.
• Must have completed an apprenticeship program consistent with the duties of Welder/Sheet Metal Journeyman or; a minimum 4 years' documented experience in welding including sheet metal fabrication work.
• Currently hold or obtain within 6 months of employment ASME and AWS code standards certification.
• Qualified and understand welding in accordance to the latest structural welding code D1.1 of the American Welding Society.
• Experience in interpreting and working from prints, isometric drawings, detailed instructions and diagrams.
• Work without direct supervision.
• Thorough knowledge of PGE & OSHA safety regulations and standards. • Demonstrated ability to rig and handle heavy equipment and material safely. The position for which you are applying is covered under the Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations as defined in 49 CFR Part 40 and 49 CFR Parts 380, 390 and 391 which became effective on October 29, 2004.
