The Apprentice, Welder supports Journeyman Welders in fabricating, manufacturing, and repairing drilling rig components while gaining handson experience in the trade. This role focuses on developing foundational welding skills by working on basic projects and building technical knowledge in a shop environment.

DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Fabricate, fit, and repair drilling rig components and equipment according to engineering drawings and quality standards
  • Perform basic welding using GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW processes with manual and semi-automatic equipment
  • Apply foundational knowledge of welding techniques, metal properties, and trade math to support fabrication tasks
  • Follow proper lifting, rigging, and hoisting practices in accordance with safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment while supporting general shop operations and team activities

 

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of the first period of vocational welding training or equivalent apprenticeship in progress
  • Minimum 1+ year of shop or manufacturing experience preferred, with progress toward required on-the-job training hours
  • Ability to read structural blueprints and welding symbols is an asset
  • Strong commitment to safety, with working knowledge of OHS regulations, WHMIS, and proper PPE use
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated team player with good communication skills and a basic understanding of hand and power tools
