Lake Mead Christian Ministries (LMCM) Minister- Athletic Coach

Job Type: Part-time

Department: Athletics

Reports to: Director of Athletics

Compensation: Stipend

Job Summary: Athletic coaches at Lake Mead Christian Academy, a Christian educational institution, is responsible for guiding and mentoring student-athletes in their respective sports. The coach will create and implement training programs that develop athletic skills while fostering spiritual growth and character development. The role requires a commitment to upholding the values and mission of the school and promoting a Christ-centered approach to sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.

Essential Job Functions:

Spiritual and Character Development:

  • Integrates Christian principles into coaching practices, encouraging athletes to reflect Christ-like behavior on and off the field.
  • Leads team devotionals and prayer sessions, fostering spiritual growth among athletes
  • Serves as a positive role model, demonstrating integrity, humility, and respect
  • Other duties as the supervisor deems necessary.

Training and Development:

  • Designs and executes sport-specific training programs that align with the skill levels and goals of student-athletes
  • Conducts regular practices to enhance athletic performance, technique, and conditioning
  • Provides constructive feedback to athletes, emphasizing both physical and spiritual growth

Team Management:

  • Creates a positive, inclusive team environment that aligns with Christian values, emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect
  • Addresses any team issues or conflicts in a manner consistent with Christian teachings
  • Promotes a culture of accountability, discipline, and perseverance

Game and Competition Preparation:

  • Develops game strategies that leverage the strengths of the team while upholding ethical and fair play
  • Offers in-game coaching and encouragement, helping athletes perform to the best of their ability
  • Analyzes game footage to identify areas for improvement, ensuring continuous development

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensures that all training and competition activities adhere to safety regulations and best practices, protecting the well-being of all participants
  • Stays informed about sport-specific rules, regulations, and policies, and ensures athletes comply with them
  • Monitors athletesโ€™ physical and emotional health, addressing any concerns promptly


Communication and Collaboration:

  • Communicates effectively with athletes, parents, faculty, and school administration
  • Collaborates with other coaches, trainers, and school staff to support the holistic development of student-athletes
  • Participates in school meetings, professional development, and community events as needed

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an athletic coach, preferably in a Christian school or similar setting
  • Strong understanding of the sportโ€™s rules, strategies, and techniques, combined with a commitment to Christian values
  • Excellent leadership, motivational, and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor young athletes
  • Ability to work with athletes of varying skill levels while fostering both their athletic and spiritual growth
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Relevant coaching certifications or licenses (as required by the sport or organization)
  • Active participation in a Christian church and a commitment to Christian education

Work Environment:

  • This role may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Evening and weekend work may be required to accommodate practice sessions and competitions

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to demonstrate athletic techniques and perform physical activities related to the sport
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift equipment up to 50 pounds, and engage in physical training activities
