Book designers typically earn between $40,000 and $70,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and the complexity of projects. Gaining experience through internships or freelance projects and building a strong portfolio are important steps, and knowledge of typography, layout, and publishing standards is essential.

Is AI replacing graphic designers?

AI tools are increasingly used in graphic design to automate repetitive tasks and generate initial concepts, but they do not fully replace the creative and strategic skills of graphic designers. For an apprentice book designer, understanding how to integrate AI with traditional design skills and software like Adobe InDesign remains valuable, as AI serves as a supplement rather than a substitute for human creativity. The role continues to require artistic judgment, technical proficiency, and adaptability to new technologies.
