Apprentice Architectural Visualization information

What is an Apprentice Architectural Visualization?

An Apprentice Architectural Visualization is an entry-level professional who assists in creating visual representations of architectural designs, such as 3D models, renderings, and animations. They work closely with architects and designers to translate technical drawings and concepts into visual formats that help clients and stakeholders understand proposed projects. This apprenticeship is an opportunity to learn industry-standard software, develop creative and technical skills, and gain experience in the field of architectural visualization.

What types of projects and software will I typically work with as an Apprentice Architectural Visualization specialist?

As an Apprentice Architectural Visualization specialist, you’ll often be involved in creating 3D renderings and animations for architectural projects such as residential buildings, commercial spaces, and urban environments. You’ll likely use industry-standard software like Autodesk 3ds Max, SketchUp, and Adobe Photoshop, and may also learn real-time visualization tools like Unreal Engine or Twinmotion. Your daily tasks will include collaborating closely with architects, designers, and project managers to translate design concepts into visually compelling presentations. This hands-on experience provides a strong foundation for advancing into more senior visualization roles or specializing in areas like virtual reality or animation within the architecture field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Apprentice Architectural Visualization, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Apprentice Architectural Visualization, you need a basic understanding of architecture, strong visual design skills, and proficiency in 3D modeling, often supported by a relevant degree or coursework. Familiarity with software such as Autodesk 3ds Max, SketchUp, V-Ray, and Adobe Creative Suite is typically required. Attention to detail, creativity, and effective communication help you interpret briefs and collaborate with clients and design teams. These skills ensure accurate, visually compelling representations that support successful project presentations and decision-making.

What is the difference between Apprentice Architectural Visualization vs Junior Architectural Renderer?

AspectApprentice Architectural VisualizationJunior Architectural Renderer
CredentialsBasic knowledge of 3D software, often in trainingSome experience with rendering software, possibly entry-level
Work EnvironmentLearning-focused, under supervision in architectural firms or studiosAssisting in rendering tasks, working alongside senior renderers
Industry UsageCommon in training programs and internshipsCommon entry-level role in architectural visualization teams

In summary, an Apprentice Architectural Visualization is typically a trainee learning the fundamentals under supervision, while a Junior Architectural Renderer has some practical experience and assists with rendering tasks. Both roles serve as entry points in the architectural visualization field but differ mainly in experience level and responsibilities.

Job description

Epsilon3 is a multi-product operations management platform revolutionizing the way teams build, launch, and operate spacecraft and other advanced hardware systems.

Launched in 2021, our company is led by engineers from SpaceX, Google, and NASA, who have experience supporting over 100 space missions. Innovative teams at Blue Origin, Rocket Lab, Axiom Space, Firefly Aerospace, and many others depend on our web-based (SaaS) solutions to plan and track high-stakes procedures. We raised a $15M Series A funding round led by Lux Capital, Y Combinator (YC S21), and other world-class investors.

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead the end-to-end design of mission-critical interfaces. You will work at the intersection of human-computer interaction and aerospace engineering, solving complex problems related to real-time telemetry, AI-assisted decision making, and high-stakes procedure management.

As a senior member of the team, you will be helping map the entire service ecosystem- translating research and feedback to service blueprints and into high-fidelity, testable prototypes.
Technical Challenges
  • Human-AI Interaction: Designing intuitive patterns for AI/ML features that boost team efficiency and enable fast, data-driven decisions without sacrificing human agency.

  • Complex Service Blueprints: Mapping multi-user, multi-environment workflows where real-time synchronization and traceability  is mission-critical.

  • Data Visualization: Architecting visualizations for high-bandwidth data streams and telemetry that remain legible under high-stress operational conditions.

  • Design for Reliability: Ensuring mission-critical security and reliability within a modern, delightful web and app based (SaaS) environment.

Responsibilities
  • Service Design & Information Architecture: Lead the creation of service blueprints and complex user flows that map out the entire lifecycle of a mission.

  • End-to-End Execution: Own the full design cycle: from deep-dive user research and discovery calls to ideation, high-fidelity prototyping, and developer handoff.

  • Prototyping & Testing: Build advanced, data-driven prototypes (using Figma, Framer, or code) to validate complex workflows with users before they hit production.

  • AI Tooling Integration: Research and implement AI-assisted design workflows and advocate for UX patterns that make AI features within the platform transparent and actionable.

  • Design Systems: Contribute to and evolve our specialized design system, ensuring consistency across operational dashboards, procedure tools, and mobile solutions.

  • Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with engineering to ensure technical feasibility and participate in customer discovery to translate raw requirements into elegant solutions.

Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in Product Design, UI/UX, or Interaction Design, preferably within complex enterprise SaaS, industrial software, or aerospace.

  • Masters or Bachelor's Degree in HCI, Design, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

  • Expert Prototyper: Proven ability to move from abstract service blueprints to high-fidelity, testable prototypes that simulate real-world data and logic.

  • Systems Thinker: Deep experience in Information Architecture and a track record of simplifying high-density data for professional users.

  • Technical Literacy: Strong understanding of modern web technologies (React, Node.js) and the ability to design for the constraints of real-time, high-security cloud/on-prem environments.

  • Startup Mentality: Comfortable navigating ambiguity, managing multiple concurring projects, and iterating rapidly in a Lean/Agile environment.

  • US Citizenship (future security clearance may be required)

  • Must be located in the US

$130,000 - $190,000 a year
Perks:

This full-time role includes stock options, generous PTO, health insurance, and a 4% 401k match.
