Job description

We are hiring an Outside Sales Representative/Account Manager in Portland. The territory includes Portland/Vancouver. There are existing accounts as well as potential business to open and grow. The customer base is as diverse as our product line and includes marine, logging, forestry, aggregate, medical, material handling, construction, automation, robotics, govt agencies, etc.
Our Fluid power systems are comprised of a myriad of components, including pumps, cylinders, valves, hose, fittings and much more. Applied Industrial Technologies/Applied Fluid Power is seeking an Account Manager where you will establish and expand relationships with current and prospective customers. As the primary knowledge base, you'll directly impact our customers and the bottom line.

What you'll do:
  • Meet with current and prospective customers to assess system requirements and product needs / applications.
  • Achieve sales and profit goals by developing existing customers, opening new business, and customer retention.
  • Conduct sales and service activities, develop strong customer relationships, identify product applications, and introduce new products and services.
  • Prepare quotes and proposals, follow up and negotiate terms, and close transactions.

Qualifications:
  • 2+ yrs outside sales experience. Industrial customer experience a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a desire to learn.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proven experience maintaining existing customer base while developing new business.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of pumps, hoses, fittings, and/or hydraulics, pneumatics is preferred
  • This position is not eligible for relocation benefits and is expected to be performed on site.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US. We are not able to offer sponsorship of work visas for this position.
