Job description

Janssen & Spaans Engineering (JSE) is looking for a Senior CAD Technician (DET) to join our team! This role provides engineering excellence, plans, identifies, prioritizes, tracks and monitors tasks and sequences in the process to produce the desired outcome. COMPENSATION COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE. The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s Degree in Design Technology, Applied Science, or alternate applicable degree and six (6) or more years’ experience in performing engineering design drafting on road projects, including but not limited to:


Road:

  • Interstates, Highways, and Freeways
  • Urban Streets
  • Various Intersections Including Roundabouts
  • Interchange Layout
  • Hydrology


Job Description:

  • Produce drawings using computer-assisted drafting systems: AutoCAD or MicroStation (Preferred)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation, InRoads, GuideSign, GeoPak design and related drafting software
  • Follow client, JSE, and Department of Transportation (DOT) and ASHTO codes and standards
  • Draft plans and detailed drawings for road construction and miscellaneous projects
  • Read construction and engineering documents to assist with creation of shop drawings
  • Provide timely updates for drawing completion and workload
  • Mentor associate CAD Technicians


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in Design Technology, Applied Science, or alternate applicable degree
  • Over six (6) years’ experience in related field
  • Understanding and application of civil engineering concepts and practices
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation/Bentley, and related drafting software
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office applications i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams
  • Work independently and coordinate effectively with multi-disciplined project teams
  • Effective time management skills to meet deadlines
  • Experience with traffic and signage detail (preferred but not required)
  • Detail-oriented
