CONTINUING EDUCATION - APPLIED MATH and 
WORKPLACE DOCUMENTS INSTRUCTOR 
TRUMAN COLLEGE

Truman College Continuing Education is seeking an instructor to teach a combination ACT WorkKeys preparation class that will cover the Applied Mathematics and Workplace Documents assessments. The WorkKeys Applied Math assessment evaluates a person's ability to solve practical mathematical problems commonly encountered in the workplace. The WorkKeys Workplace Documents assessment evaluates a person's ability to comprehend and use written information commonly encountered in the workplace. If you have a passion for teaching and learning and are committed to the mission of the community college, consider joining our team. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

         Prepare students to take the WorkKeys Applied Mathematics assessment, focusing on the following skills:

o   Basic operations, fractions, percentages, ratios, and interpreting numerical data in real-world scenarios.

o   Applying logical reasoning and problem-solving skills under timed conditions.

         Prepare students to take the WorkKeys Workplace Documents assessment, focusing on the following skills:

o   Reading, understanding, and applying instructions, procedures, policies, and other workplace documents.

o   Applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills under timed conditions.

         Fulfill the assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain a positive instructional environment, and provide opportunities for student evaluation.

         Adhere to the City Colleges of Chicago code of ethics, board rules, policies and procedures.

Qualifications

         Appropriate educational background. Bachelor's degree preferred.

         Experience teaching math, reading and writing to a diverse student population. Ability to interact effectively with a variety of demographic groups.

         Ability to teach in-person and online classes.

         Familiarity with online testing platforms and environments.

         Strong communication skills -- written, verbal and platform.
