General Statement
Gallatin College seeks qualified individuals to provide non-tenurable level instruction and/or related functions.
The department or program search committees or hiring authority will review and evaluate the submitted application materials. Applicants will be notified if their application is being retained in the non-tenure track faculty hiring pool.
Duties and Responsibilities
Gallatin College seeks course instructors to teach on the MSU Bozeman Campus in the areas of Basic Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, and a wide range of Algebra courses from Prealgebra up to and including College Algebra.
  • Provide an active learning environment four to five days per week in a face-to-face classroom environment.
  • Attend weekly coordination meetings.
  • Maintain a minimum of four office hours per week on the Bozeman campus
  • Provide assistance to students in a drop-in help lab at least one hour per week

Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Qualifications vary based on course assignments:
  1. For Developmental Math courses: a bachelor's degree in the discipline
  2. For core level coursework (Contemporary Mathematics and College Algebra): Master's degree required in Mathematics or a related academic field
  3. Demonstrated experience working with and engaging students and colleagues within and outside the department

Preferred Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  1. For Developmental Math courses: a master's degree in the discipline
  2. Prior teaching experience
  3. Experience in developmental education
  4. Understanding of the Two-year College Mission
  5. Demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff enrichment

The Successful Candidate Will
  • Work professionally and effectively with individuals and groups.
  • Possess effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have the ability to contribute positively to the academic success of the students and the mission of Gallatin College Montana State University.
  • Be aware of the needs of at-risk students both inside and outside of the classroom by constantly monitoring student progress, providing feedback to both students and advisors, as well as connecting students to university resources as appropriate.
