Manufacturing Engineering Specialist III (Composites SME) in  GAC Savannah

  • Composites experience preferred 
  • Extensive knowledge in aerospace composite manufacturing required. 
  • Experience in Non-Distructive/ Ultra Sonic testing preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma/ Green Belt certification highly preferred
  • SAP/Solumina/Smarteam/CATIA eperience preferred


 

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred. 13 years in the specific technical discipline or 15 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines, or 11 years in the specific technical discipline with Masters degree, or 9 years in the specific technical discipline with PhD. Position Purpose: Develop and implement manufacturing and engineering projects to resolve critical problems, the solution of which requires significant process restructuring, major technological advances or extensive related development.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. For manufacturing process to which individual is assigned: provide and maintain detailed work instructions, drive quality improvements, efficiency improvements, material presentation enhancements, manage the daily work plan, provide metrics for quality and schedule performance, and coordinate engineering and tooling changes as required. to meet Operations goals.
  2. Responsible for an entire manufacturing project of major complexity within established scope aimed at process development or improvement.
  3. Make technical decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive manufacturing activities or engineering projects related to manufacturing process development. Provide technical assistance and training to Operations Engineers.
  4. Apply advanced technical principles, theories and concepts based on broad expertise or unique specialized knowledge to manufacturing projects that affect the successful manufacture of the aircraft, installation of the systems or performance of the aircraft.
  5. Lead the development of innovative principles and ideas regarding manufacturing processes in use or that could be applied to the existing processes.
  6. Act independently to determine improved methods and/or procedures to optimize manufacturing processes, cost and schedule performance.
  7. Work under consultative direction; use independent judgment to accomplish objectives.
  8. Develop standards and guidelines for diverse Operations Engineering activities.
  9. Conceive and plan investigation of broad areas of importance for which manufacturing or engineering precedents are lacking in areas critical to the program.
Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements:
  1. The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
