IISD's Economic Law and Policy (ELP) Program supports the development and improvement of economic governance frameworks that advance sustainable development. We do this through research, training and capacity building, conferences and dialogues, and other initiatives. Our work increasingly includes virtual events and digital communications and outreach. Our multidisciplinary team of lawyers, economists, policy analysts, journalists, and other experts is based across multiple countries and regions. 


Scope


IISD is looking for a Project Assistant to join our Project Management team and provide a range of support and administrative tasks for project managers and other team members. This person is an extremely efficient and organized multitasker looking for an exciting opportunity to work with an outstanding international team.


The role has growth potential and is perfect for those who are interested in pursuing a career in project management.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the operational planning, monitoring and implementation of projects and initiatives. 
  • Provide support to project managers and the project team with workplan development, budget development/adjustment, contracting, evaluation, and reporting. 
  • Assist in the compilation and formatting of program documents, including proposals.  
  • Assist with the tracking and reconciliation of project expenses for team members and external partners. 
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of program lists and databases. 
  • Assist in event planning, coordinating across time zones; manage travel and logistical arrangements; and collect and file post-event documentation, including agendas, participant lists, and meeting reports. 
  • Organize and schedule regular team calls and the team calendar. 
  • Other tasks as required. 


Skills:

  • Excellent organizational, administrative and project management skills 
  • Strong interest in and understanding of financial management and budgeting 
  • Good experience with Microsoft Excel 
  • Strong attention to detail  
  • Good communication skills 
  • Ability to work well in a virtual team environment 
  • Ability to work independently, with limited supervision 
  • Ability to manage time effectively  


Qualifications 

  • At least 3 years of work experience in a relevant role
  • International experience/ background preferred
  • Fluency in English
  • Working knowledge of French or Spanish language an asset 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint/Teams

Position Details


Location:  Hybrid, Winnipeg and other IISD payroll locations in Europe (Germany, Portugal, UK). 


Candidates must hold an appropriate work authorization for locations where they expect to be based, without any sponsorship from IISD.


Salary:   The target hiring range for this position in Winnipeg is CAD48,000 - CAD57,000 annually, with the ability to progress to a maximum of CAD65,000 annually. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.

Germany:  EUR 44,000 - 50,000

Portugal :  EUR 37,000 - 43,000

UK:            GBP 32,000 - 36,000
