Application Operations Manager (iSeries)
What does a successful Application Operations Manager (iSeries) do at Fiserv?
A successful Application Operations Manager (iSeries) at Fiserv leads a team that supports and enhances critical fintech applications across our Technical Operations organization. This role ensures production stability, drives strong incident management practices, and oversees iSeries and Windows/IIS application operations in partnership with development, infrastructure, and business teams. Success in this position means leading complex enterprise operations, improving resilience, and advancing automation and operational efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
What you will do?
  • Lead production support activities and ensure timely incident resolution while meeting service level objectives.
  • Management and mentor application support engineers through coaching, performance management, and professional development.
  • Oversee incident management, including root cause analysis, escalation management, stakeholder communication, and on-call operational readiness for mission-critical applications.
  • Direct the implementation and operational support of iSeries environments and Windows-based IIS applications, including troubleshooting across applications, databases, and infrastructure layers.
  • Lead disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution; drive cross-functional collaboration; assess change impacts and risks; support Agile alignment; and promote automation, monitoring, capacity planning, optimization, and continuous improvement.

What you must have?
  • 8+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications and web services-based architectures, including REST APIs, J2EE, and middleware.
  • 2+ years of experience in leadership or management role.
  • Hands-on experience supporting two core platforms: iSeries (IBM i/AS400) environments and Windows/IIS-based applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

What would be nice to have?
  • Experience with 2+ application performance monitoring tools, such as Dynatrace and Splunk.
  • Experience across 3+ modern operations areas, including automation and scripting, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based architectures.
  • 1+ years of experience in financial services or fintech.
