Hi-Tek Manufacturing has been machining precision components for the aerospace and gas turbine industries out of Mason, Ohio since 1980, running conventional CNC machining alongside EDM, laser, grinding, and welding under one roof. As the shop's EDM Applications Engineer, you'll work directly with the Applications Engineering Manager as the go-to subject matter expert for the EDM process — developing and improving parameters, helping Manufacturing Engineers translate prints and specs into shop-floor instructions, and training and leading Operators on the floor. It's a technical role with real visibility: Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, and leadership come to you for EDM answers, and you'll help coordinate on-site OEM training as part of the job.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and improve EDM parameters for new and existing projects
  • Apply G and M code programming knowledge to support project improvement and development
  • Help Manufacturing Engineers convert engineering drawings and specifications into precise manufacturing operations and quality instructions for Operators
  • Train and share EDM process knowledge with Operators on the shop floor
  • Set up and run machines and processes to process jobs to drawings and specs
  • Participate in and help coordinate on-site OEM training
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to reach departmental and company goals
  • Take ownership of new and different requests, looking for ways to add value

What We're Looking ForRequired

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university, or 3–5 years of related experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Comfortable working with standard math concepts (fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions) in practical shop situations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with Siemens NX
  • Experience with Mitsubishi and/or Sodick EDM
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability
  • Proactive thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Able to operate autonomously and self-direct
  • Able to meet U.S. person / ITAR work-authorization requirements — Hi-Tek is ITAR-registered and works directly with DoD and aerospace OEM customers

Physical Demands

  • Lift, push, and pull up to 35 pounds
  • Bend, crouch, and reach at least 50% of scheduled shift
