Job description

As a Senior Applications Engineer for SiC power modules targeting automotive traction and industrial power conversion applications, you are expected to act as a technical authority and system-level expert, building strong and trusted relationships with product development teams and key customer technical stakeholders worldwide. You take ownership of technical evaluation, system-level analysis, and application feasibility assessment for products under development, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, mission profiles, and end-system constraints.

You play a critical role in driving product readiness and technical differentiation by leading product validation activities, defining application use cases, and developing comprehensive datasheets, application notes, and technical guidance that enable successful customer adoption. This role requires close collaboration with design, reliability, quality, and manufacturing teams to translate system-level insights and field feedback into actionable inputs for product improvement.

In addition, you serve as a primary technical interface to customers, working closely with on-site engineers to support design-in activities and resolve complex application challenges. You are responsible for leading issue investigations, engaging the appropriate experts from the extended support organization, and coordinating cross-functional efforts to achieve timely resolution. 

  • Lead and secure design wins for onsemi SiC power module solutions at strategic automotive and industrial customer accounts 
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to key customer engineering teams, influencing system architecture and design decisions

Qualification & Requirement 

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and a good understanding of power semiconductor devices and circuits. 

  Minimum BS degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering 

  4 years of experience as a power electronics or applications engineer in the power semiconductor industry 

  Good understanding of IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs in various packages and their characteristics 

  Good knowledge of power converter topologies

  Familiarity with automotive and/or industrial power semiconductor standards such as AQG324, IEC, and JEDEC 

  Familiarity with the use of laboratory equipment, such as digital oscilloscopes, waveform generators, etc. 

  Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink or other simulation software packages 

  Good written and verbal communication skills in English
