Job Description
Qorvo is seeking an experienced Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA) Applications Engineer to join the Defense & Aerospace High-Power RF Solutions (HPRF) team. This engineer will serve as the technical bridge between our customers and our solid-state power amplifier (SSPA) design organization. This role is responsible for understanding customer requirements, providing technical support and solutions, and ensuring customers' needs are accurately translated into product and design requirements. The ideal candidate possesses strong RF and microwave engineering knowledge, hands-on experience with SSPAs, and the communication skills necessary to effectively engage with customers, business development teams, and internal engineering organizations. This individual will play a key role in supporting new opportunities, resolving technical inquiries, and influencing future product development.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between customers and the SSPA design engineering team.
  • Support customer inquiries related to Qorvo's SSPA performance, integration, operation, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate customer application requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Support proposal efforts, technical reviews, and customer presentations.
  • Work closely with design engineers to ensure customer requirements are properly understood and implemented.
  • Analyze RF performance data and communicate results to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain application notes, technical documentation, and product support materials.
  • Gather customer feedback and market requirements to help guide future product roadmaps and product enhancements.
  • Support trade shows, customer visits, and design reviews as required.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in RF/microwave engineering, RF power amplifiers, or applications engineering.
  • Strong understanding of RF and microwave fundamentals including gain, power, efficiency, linearity, and impedance matching.
  • Experience with RF power amplifier systems, preferably SSPA technologies.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, SATCOM, radar, electronic warfare, or communications applications.
  • Familiarity with RF simulation tools such as ADS, AWR, HFSS, CST, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with RF test equipment including vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and oscilloscopes
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Required Education & Experience
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 5 or more years of experience
  • MS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 3 or more years of experience
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering with SSPA Design focus
